Somos Arte Chicago

Somos Arte is a non for profit organization born out of the Puerto Rican Festival of Chicago. In 2019, I was asked to join the festival committee and bring my love of Puerto Rican culture to our community celebration. What began as a one woman show with 3 artists, some spray paint and a whole bunch of plywood, has evolved into a non profit organization centering art and education in Chicago’s Puerto Rican community. Currently, Somos Arte is lead by myself and two other board members, Angie Varela and Melanie Lopez. We work as a team with a revolving group of over 40 artists friends to center art and education initiatives in our community.
